"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit."
(N. Henderson)
Love trees? Love yoga? Love the mountains? Keen on giving back?
Join us for our karma yoga and tree planting retreat. Together with the National Trust we’ll run two tree planting sessions in Snowdonia National Park, we’ll have meditation sessions, yoga classes, walks and karma yoga activities and… delicious vegetarian food!
As Nelson Henderson’s quote suggests, there's a depth of meaning that we can bring to our lives when we act for something greater than ourselves. It is a win-win. You are giving to others, yet at the same time, acts of altruism can help protect your mental and physical health, reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.
Karma Yoga Retreats are run as part of the Dru Volunteer Programme. They are a fantastic way to experience teamwork by working on different projects together, such as cooking, gardening, painting, cleaning, building, etc.
During this retreat the karma yoga activities will focus on planting trees and cleaning our environment, while the yoga and meditation sessions will attune us with the elements.
Other possible Karma Yoga activities may include:
- light maintenance/building work
- cleaning
- cooking
- gardening
- website / IT support
And there's more....
We will also make sure that your time here is as nourishing and as rewarding as possible. Therefore we include in your programme sessions like:
- yoga & relaxation
- meditation
- walks and yoga in nature
- mantra chanting (kirtan)
- satsang
And not to forget - your working environment will be in the midst of the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, with beautiful walks and time in nature included!
