Postgrad - Optimising back and hip health in the North West, Mar 2019

 Registration is closed for this event
Dru Yoga postgraduate training day to be held in Morecambe. This postgraduate training day is open to current students and graduates of the Dru Yoga teacher training course. The training session is also open to yoga teachers from other training schools. This course delves into the wonderful world of Koshas and Chakras and our ability to change at a very deep level.

This is going to be an exciting CPD training day to be held in the north west of England, in the beautiful seaside resort of Morecambe.

In yoga classes we often hear phrases like 'opening the hips' and 'stretching the hamstrings'. But is it even possible to 'open' a hip joint, ie increase its mobility? And does it just depend on the hamstrings whether you can touch your toes?

This postgrad workshop is based on applied anatomy and physiology. Nanna Coppens will take you on a journey of exploration through the structures and muscles of the back and hips to help you:

  • understand how to achieve optimum mobility and flexibility;
  • learn more about the important role of the fascia;
  • experience how major muscles can be activated;
  • realise the importance of avoiding end range of motion;
  • explore optimum alignment so you can safely practise and teach asana.

The Psoas (also called the muscle of the soul) will get some extra attention as it plays a major role in posture, back health and emotional wellbeing.

You will experience the wonderful mix of stability, power and freedom that makes asana practise so enjoyable and health-promoting.

The training day will be facilitated by the wonderful Nanna Coppens, one of Dru Yoga's senior teacher trainers. Nanna's unique combination of energy awareness and precision for detail makes her the ideal tutor for this training session. Originally from the Netherlands, Nanna has been teaching for over 20 years, making her one of Dru Yoga's most respected tutors.

The workshop will  conclude with an empowering yoga nidra.

You are definitely in for a very special training session and the availability of gaining 6 Professional CPD points for the day too**.

The training day is open to graduates of the Dru Yoga teacher training course. Also, if you are a current student of the Dru Yoga teacher training course and would like to attend to gain further insight then you are most welcome.

The training session is also open to yoga teachers from other yoga training schools. **However, you will need to arrange your own CPD points with your yoga school for attendance.

There will be a lunch break and you will need to bring your own lunch - there aren't any local shops nearby to purchase sandwiches etc. Hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the day.

Please bring a yoga mat and a blanket for relaxation.

We look forward to seeing you there.

If you have any queries regarding this day please contact Jean Nelson, Dru Yoga teacher, who is organising the event. Tel: 07985 476793. Email: jeanieweanie@talktalk.net.

The format of postgraduate events does change depending on the area and of course the subject(s) being taught. However, there will be movement and study time during the day and hopefully a relaxation for you to enjoy.

Make new friends, chat with your tutors

You'll meet your local tutors, so you can have the chance to ask questions and experience what it might be like to train further with us. There will be many others, like yourself, coming to try and experience this post grad event so you'll also have the opportunity to meet like minded people in your local area.

Our postgraduate events are taught by our top international tutors, many of whom also teach on the Dru Yoga and Meditation teacher training and foundation courses. This will give you the opportunity of speaking with them about furthering your knowledge for perhaps enrolling on another training course.

Transport

The venue is easily accessible by road. Leave the M6 at junction 34 and follow The Bay Gateway towards Morecambe town centre. Once at the roundabout at Ist Stop DIY, turn right. Go past the police station and there is plenty of free parking behind the church hall and there is also a pay and display car park in front of the church hall on Matthias Street.

There is a train station in Morecambe at the opposite end of the promenade but you should check availability carefully as Northern Rail are following a rigid strike pattern and this may continue into the new year.

The venue is close to bus stops which can take you into Lancaster.
